Sia fokkun ingeiti (kudos) Chuuk High School’s Typhoons for giving us the only hope in our State’s public education reform efforts when all else seems failing. While the Chuuk Board of Education (CBOE) and the Chuuk Department of Education (CDOE) wrestle each other in political standoffs and the politicians and US-led Advisory Board practice one-upmanship, the once struggling school under the leadership of Paul Hadik continues to focus on student success. Mr. Hadik, who formerly served as Director of Education for Kosrae State and Principal of Kosrae High School, has been steadily implementing true educational reform with a cadre of energetic, committed, and compassionate educators from the World Teach organization and a recommitted group of local teachers. Kudos to you Paul, to your team, and the Typhoons.
Mr. Hadik has been dispatched by the CDOE on recruitment trips to Hawaii and other places. He will be in Hilo on December 17 – 19, 2014 to interview anyone with a college degree who is interested in teaching in Chuuk’s public schools or for several key positions in the department.
